Part 1 – My best friend, hair dresser & make up artist
When planning a wedding there are so many things to consider. Hair & make up can often be a high priority when it comes to the bride however although they have high expectations they can often be misled by Pinterest, Instagram and my old favourite, comparison. I was lucky, some of my best friends are hairdressers; my best friend being both a hair dresser AND makeup artist! Therefore I had some honest, professional gals surrounding me on my big day. They are such amazing people who I am so blessed to have in my life. This is my first interview style blog post for you all! My best friend, Kiah, make up artist and hair dresser! I had the pleasure of being her model for a few of her earlier projects… you do anything for the ones you love…..
What are friends for..?Am I right? Still to this day I am unsure why she always chose me for the most unflattering work… whatever, all I know is I am bloody proud of her and proud to call her my best friend!

How long have you been in the hair dressing and make up industry and what made you get into it?
I have been hairdressing for 14 years and I have been a makeup artist for 6 years. I always wanted to do both I love making people feel good about themselves and being creative.
Who or what inspires you?
Working in a team environment inspires me every day, bouncing off each other ( other stylists). Celebrities always keep things interesting, I love keeping up to date with the world of celebs.
What is your favourite make up trend of all time?
Oh, that’s a hard one. I do love a dark brown smokey eye with red lips and a natural summer look with a nice fresh glow.
Now, what is one make up or hair trend you never want to see again?
Mullets ! Oh and thin eyebrows.
Natural makeup or heavy make up for a wedding?
It really depends on the bride and what they feel comfortable with. I personally like both.
How far in advance should a bride book her hair and make up?
As soon as they know the location of their wedding. It is best to pay your deposit to secure your date. We literally book out years in advance!
As a wedding hair dresser or make up artist, do you expect your client to pay for your accommodation and travel on top of the work when travelling for the job?
Yes, most definitely.
Make up trial…yay or nay?
YES! maybe for your hens night or for a night out so you can see how it looks in photos and how durable it is
If there was one piece of advice you could give for a bride or groom planning their wedding?
Making sure that the bride/bridesmaids are all organised the morning of if they are doing presents or breakfast etc please tell your beauty team a specific time and be ready so that hairdressers and makeup artists are not waiting around (time is money!) Also please let us know any allergies in advance so we come prepared.
